HELOS + RODOS particle size analyzer 0.1 µm to 8,750 µm
Sympatec GmbH particle size and particle size distribution analysis system with laser diffraction for lab applications ranging from below 0.1 µm to 8,750 µm
The proven Sympatec particle size analyzer sensor HELOS series – with its classical parallel beam laser diffraction set-up – offers a powerful technology for particle size distribution analysis of powders, granules, suspensions, emulsions, sprays and numerous other particulate systems. A size range from below 0.1 µm to 8,750 µm is mastered. The modular sensor reveals its true superiority when operated with feeding and dispersing systems, that guarantee for best adaption to the product sample.
The complete spectrum of ranges R1 to R8 proves the strong concept of the measuring range segmentation. Reliable insight into all details of the samples to be analysed can only be achieved with selection of the optimum measuring range.
Best possible agreement with absolute values is achieved using the more powerful evaluation algorithms of FREE and MIEE. Extremely short analysis times – especially for dry dispersion – are maintained and even for the combination of four measuring ranges the time requirement typically necessary for suspension analysis is kept. The R-series of Sympatec particle size analyser HELOS sets new benchmarks for precision and accuracy. Latest improvements comprise enhanced application of parameter-free Fraunhofer evaluation down to the submicron regime (below 1 µm). Continually, industrial requirements and limits are considerably outmatched. The use of more stable inversion procedures in combination with best optical models and the inclusion of signal statistics brings the laser diffraction even closer to absolute standards. Last, to the specifications of ISO 13320 "Particle size analysis - laser diffraction methods" the requirements and limits are considerably outmatched.
HELOS R series family
HELOS/BR is the shortest model version of the instrument family and finds room on every laboratory table. This particle size analyzer sensor integrates up to 5 optical modules for a measuring range from below 0.1 µm to 875 µm. A multitude of measuring tasks are fulfilled reliably and offers measuring confidence even to the coarser particle range. The laser analyzer can be used with all HELOS dispersing units.
- Measuring range from 0.1 µm to 875 µm
- Short optical bench | 70 cm footprint

RODOS the powerful dry dispersion
RODOS is the original by the inventor of dry dispersion – Sympatec. With this breakthrough innovation, Sympatec has opened up dry applications to particle measurement technology – as early as 1982. Since then, it has been possible to dry measure powders, fibres and granules appropriate to the product, with both laser diffraction and dynamic image analysis. No other method of dispersing is anywhere near as powerful or achieves such an efficient as well as gentle dispersion from the submicron to millimetre range. The speed, reproducibility, comparability and (above all) the high statistical reliability with large sample volumes up to more than 1,000 ml are particularly striking. However, even the smallest particle quantities in the microgram range are fully recorded with sophisticated trigger algorithms.
The classic RODOS with manual adjustment of the dispersion parameters is ideally suited for individual product applications and applications where the measuring parameters remain constant. The precisely reproducible measurement conditions of flash dispersion form the basis for reliable, repeatable measurement results. Simple access to parts that are in contact with the product – particularly the dispersing line – permits quick and easy cleaning and maintenance by the user.
The dispersing system RODOS/L can be controlled either using software or the manual control panels. Upon request, the application software saves all dispersion parameters as retrievable measurement methods (standard operating procedures (SOPs)). In this way, measurements are reliable and independent of the operator, even if the product and/or application is changed frequently. The dispersing line’s feed rate, dispersing energy and position are precisely and fully automatically reproduced. The permanent monitoring of the pressure conditions in the intake and exhaust tract are ensured through the reliable promotion of the sample material. RODOS/L is therefore also ideally suited for validated pharmaceutical applications.
